Where to go after-hours

Closing Time,
every new beginning
comes from some other beginning’s end

- Semisonic, Closing Time

One of the unfortunate realities of what we do here at YouthInBC.com is that the program has an opening and closing time. We do what we can between noon and 1am pacific time, but then where can you go when we’re closed? Well I guess that depends on what you’re looking for.

Some of these services also have on-line chat available (usually for only part of the day). If phones are okay with you, then it’ll depend on whether you want something that’s geared towards youth, or towards suicide.

just wanted to tell you about the suicide one for the , samaritans is a good helpline for someone who is suicidal because they just let you do it, whereas some people would prefer someone to try and help them not to do it.

Hey Beth! Thanks for your comment. You’re probably talking about the policies the Samaritans have around confidentiality, right? I’m sure you know this already, but Samaritans is definitely in the business of preventing suicide, it’s just that I think they have different approaches to if/how they release information in emergencies. I don’t really want to speak for them, though, so I’d encourage anyone who’s curious about those kinds of things to ask them directly… I’m sure they’d be glad to talk about it, especially if it would help you feel better knowing what to expect out of them!
