Gastown Vocational Services offers a wide range of vocational and educational services to individuals with mental health issues. Their staff of occupational therapists, psychologists and life-skills and job coaches helps youth to obtain work experience, employment, and/or access to educational and skills training programs.

The Youth and Young Adult Program (YYAP) in particular assists youth and young adults to obtain work experience, employment and/or access to educational and skill training programs. One-to-one job coaching and supported employment services are delivered to each 16-30 year old referred to the program.

ISS of BC assists immigrants, refugees and non-English speaking BC residents with integration into the community. They provide support groups, ESL classes, skills training, counselling, information and referral.

Youth Programs include:

  • A language college
  • Multicultural Youth Circle Program for Newcomer Youth – 80-hour peer facilitation and leadership training program for immigrant and refugee youth
  • African Youth Program – Academic, social & recreational program for African youth in East Burnaby
  • Youth Connexion – An 18-week employability program with practical skills training, English language support/improvement and a 3-4 week work or volunteer placement.
