Pregnant?

If you’ve missed a period or have had unprotected sex you could become pregnant. A pregnancy test can confirm if you are pregnant or not. You can get a test from any drug store, or have a test done at your local clinic.

Usually the first sign that you might be pregnant is a missed period. But… there are many other reasons why you might miss a period such as birth control or some medications. If you take a pregnancy test at home and it shows that you might be pregnant, you should see a doctor to confirm the results.

If you are pregnant, there are lots of resources available to help you make decisions. Deciding what to do can be really difficult: You may decide to carry the baby to term or not… if you do, you may decide to keep the baby or look into having someone else care for them. You might want to spend some time thinking about all of your options and talking about them with someone you trust, including your partner. Options for Sexual Health has a great set of questions that could help you start thinking about it here.

Making difficult decisions about a pregnancy is stressful and emotionally draining. Make sure to get support and take care of yourself. You can check out our Stress section for tips on dealing during difficult times.
