The Youth Pregnancy and Parenting Program is a free prenatal program for pregnant youth (24 and under) living in Vancouver. Clients can self-refer.
SERVICES INCLUDE:
- Nutrition counseling with a Dietitian during pregnancy
- One-to-one support with housing, finances and other social challenges with a Support Worker
- Weekly prenatal education group with a Public Health Nurse and Youth Support Worker
- Parent infant drop-in groups until baby is 18 months old
- Free hot lunches provided at groups
- Food skills cooking classes and demonstrations
- Counseling with a Youth Counselor
- Clothing and food donations
LOW INCOME CLIENTS MAY ALSO RECEIVE:
- Grocery gift cards
- Free dental hygiene visit
- Transit tickets
- Free prenatal vitamins for mom and vitamin D drops for babies
Youth with multiple barriers may apply to access the YPPP maternity clinic, which offers:
- A medical team that follows youth and their baby
- Family doctors that deliver at BC Women’s Hospital
