Hey, I’m Sydney and I’m 24. I go to school and live in beautiful Vancouver. I’ve been volunteering at the Crisis Centre forever and by that I mean 5 years and counting! I’m currently in my 2nd year of medicine at UBC, and because of that, I don’t work right now and I’m very broke.

I like to have a good time; traveling is my passion. I’ve been all over the world, from small-town Sangklaburi, Thailand to fast-paced London, England, I’ve seen it all and am eager to do it all over again. I was an avid track and field athlete and cheerleader in high school, but have now regressed to being a lazy bum, although I do “kinda” work out everyday. I like sushi and I like dogs and I absolutely love hitting the clubs on the weekends.

So why am I here? Have you ever seen the movie Scream 2 and Neve Campbell went home, put on her headset, and dialed in as a volunteer for some Crisis Line? Well, I was 16 when I saw that movie and right there and then, I knew that was my calling. Cheesiness aside, I’m really interested in the helping profession and I feel that I’ve gone through so much crap in my life that I can relate to problems of youth quite well. I also do Community Education workshops in high schools around Vancouver, so hopefully I’m pretty good at relating to youth. YouthInBC is an excellent way to reach out to a volunteer when you need to talk to someone and we welcome you to talk to us!

We’re here for you if you want to chat.
