The Helpline for Children is the Ministry of Child and Family Development’s toll-free line for reporting of suspected cases of child abuse or neglect. Ministry social workers are also available to help support families in difficulty, since placing youth in care isn’t always the ideal or only way to help.

The Crisis Intervention & Suicide Prevention Centre of BC provides several services: The Distress Line (24-hour crisis line), Youth in BC (that’s us!), The Seniors’ Distress Line, partial share of 1-800-SUICIDE (in BC) and the Community Education Program that offers workshops in stress and suicide in schools.

Kids Help Phone
Provides confidential, anonymous counselling over the phone, or via questions posted online. Website provides space to share stories and connect with other youth, as well as a Topic Library about common issues and concerns facing children and youth.
Youth Health Services (BC Children’s Hospital)
The Youth Health Program of the BC Children’s Hospital is dedicated to improving the health of young people in British Columbia through clinical services, health promotion, education and training, advocacy, and research. Their site offers an intro to what to expect when you visit the hospital, as well as your rights and resources.

A network of organizations that “won’t get weird” when you need to talk about your sexual health! Operates the “Sex Sense” line, which provides confidential expert information, advice, and referral on all aspects of sexual health.

OPT offers confidential, nonjudgmental clinical services, reliable contraceptive options, and comprehensive education and information, provided by well-trained professionals.
YouthCO
YouthCo is a youth-driven (15-29) non-profit organization that works to reduce the impact that HIV and Hep C have on the youth of British Columbia through peer support, education and community engagement. Programs include a variety of workshops around sexual health and harm reduction, and support services for youth affected by HIV and Hep C.
Planet Ahead
PlanetAhead-Condomania uses an integrated approach to provide youth with opportunities to explore issues and social contexts that influence their decisions about relationships and sexuality, and to learn safer sex skills. They provide outreach at youth events as well as school-based workshops.
