Stress Management Exercises

The following are the three exercises that our Community Education program presents in the Stress Management Workshop in secondary schools throughout the Lower Mainland of B.C. Two of the three exercises shared here are based on the perspectives and practices of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, a practice to reduce stress developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Centre. Mindfulness is by no means the only approach to managing stress; But it is simple to learn and has helped many people. If these particular exercises don’t suit your needs, keep looking!

Special thanks to the Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre and Dr. Dzung Vo, who offered to have us link their page with downloadable audio recordings of mindfulness exercises.  Click here to check it out.

Also, the good folks at Simon Fraser University’s Student Services have also agreed to make some of their audio and video resources available to us on their web site. The audio is all in mp3 format, so you can pop it onto your iPod if you’d like to travel with it. The videos are all Yoga exercises, courtesy of My Yoga Online.com. You can see the full page here.
